Kemira's Unified HR Framework with SAP SuccessFactors

Kemira is a global leader in sustainable chemical solutions for water-intensive industries. Headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, Kemira offers water quality and quantity management, thereby improving customers’ energy, water, and raw material efficiency. The company operates in over 100 countries and employs approximately 5,000 people.

Challenge

Kemira splits its HR function into two teams: global HR and regional HR. The global HR team is responsible for developing global processes and policies in cooperation with regional HR. Processes for reward, talent development, recruitment, and other global Human Capital Management (HCM) processes are managed by the global HR team. Regional and local HR is responsible for implementing these processes, including data management, in their respective regions.

Kemira has been working with SuccessFactors Employee Profile and Goal & Performance Management modules since 2012, and was keen to implement the remaining parts of the SuccessFactors Talent Suite.

Solution

Kemira conducted an RFP process and Effective People was chosen as the implementation partner. Effective People implemented the SuccessFactors Learning, SuccessFactors Recruiting,SuccessFactors Compensation, and SuccessFactors Talent Management modules.

Besides being responsible for the module implementation, Effective People was also asked to optimize and improve processes from the already implemented modules across the SuccessFactors platform. Since SuccessFactors was already known to the organization, there was minimal change-related impact on the organization.

Result

By leveraging Effective People’s long-standing expertise in global rollouts, Kemira was able to successfully implement the SuccessFactors modules in scope while optimizing current processes. The project was successfully implemented on time and on budget, and has been an important accelerator in helping Kemira to achieve the key project benefits:
